Harvey Lamm

Harvey Lamm, Chairman, is the former Chairman, CEO and founder of Subaru of America. Mr. Lamm was directly responsible, over a twenty year period, for the formation and the growth of Subaru of America from a start-up company to a major publicly held U.S. corporation.

Mr. Lamm and an associate acquired, from the Japanese manufacturer of Subaru automobiles, the perpetual right to distribute Subaru products in the United States beginning in 1968. The U.S. Company was started by a handful of entrepreneurs as a grossly undercapitalized importer initially making non-competitive automobiles in the United States. Nineteen years later, under Mr. Lamm's leadership, the company reached a peak with sales of 183,000 vehicles, revenues of nearly $2 billion, net income of $94 million, $315 million in stock-holder's equity, and a market value of over $800 million. In January 1986, Forbes magazine ranked Subaru of America first in profitability among automotive companies and fourth among all companies ranked based upon a five year average of return on equity. The company also developed a professional organization with over one thousand employees supporting a wholesale distributor and retail dealer body with more than 7,000 employees.

Mr. Lamm's affiliation with Subaru of America ended when the Japanese manufacturer acquired all of the shares of the company and assigned a representative from Japan as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Lamm joined VINtek in 1995 and later acquired a majority interest in the company by buying out the venture capital company that co-invested with him. He could see that VINtek was another start-up venture with significant growth potential. Mr. Lamm has been active in the management of the company since 1995 and has been instrumental in the company's success and development.
